Must Do Thailand Experince

There are so many amazing cities and areas to explore in Thailand. From the northern part of Thailand where the most beautiful green mountains exist to the hundreds of islands that sit on the most crystal clear water throughout the Andaman Sea. Thailand is called the Land of Smiles for many reasons. There are things that help you indulge in their culture and bring you closer to the locals and the way they live their lives on a daily basis. All of these experiences, you can find anywhere in Thailand.

Getting a Thai Massage

This is a must. If I could have gotten one of these everyday... trust me, I would. I look back at my time in Thailand and still think I never got enough of those massages. There is a place on every corner for your 30 minutes of heaven.

Shopping at Thai Markets and Malls

These malls and markets are unlike anything you have ever seen. American malls are nothing like these and I remember being so in awe of the hustle and bustle from all the workers and consumers.

Eating Thai Street Food

Everywhere in Thailand there are carts on the street that serve food. Follow the locals when it comes to trying street food. They have such funky foods, and you don't want to miss out on. any of it. You can never go wrong with pad Thai, crepes, and ice-cream though, LOL! Some of these carts and stalls are very dirty and unsanitary and this is how you get Bangkok Belly. Trust me, you don't want to end up sick. It sucks. Just be careful and always watch them cook before ordering.

Try Fruits, specifically a Durian

OH MY GOSH, nothing will beat the fruit that we had over in South East Asia. Go to the best fresh food markets and pick up all the local fruits!! They are so fresh, so delicious and unlike any fruits we have ever had before. All of the locals told us we had to try Durian because you can't get it anywhere else and it is the worlds smelliest fruit. It was definitely an acquired taste.

Take a Thai Cooking Class

We did our Thai cooking class in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand. It's a lot smaller of a city with great markets. We met some other amazing tourist and our chef instructors were all family which made you feel right at home, they were cracking jokes the whole time. Also, I don't want to toot my own horn, but, I seriously had the best Thai food on our entire trip here.

Ride a Tuk Tuk

This is a must. If you are being more luxurious and want to have fun, take these every day. However, if you are like us and wanted to conserve money take taxis, buses, and trains. That still doesn't mean you can't do it at least once though. Oh yeah, ALWAYS HAGGLE!! There are tuk tuk's everywhere. Always tell the driver where you want to go, agree on a price BEFORE getting in the tuk tuk and work your magic. That's half the fun in my opinion. If they don't seem to be giving you a fair price send the driver on his way and I can guarantee there is another tuk tuk driver you can flag down!

Sky bars

Ian and I wish we would have done more sky bars. We didn't drink a lot on the trip beacause we were trying to save our money. However, after we left there was no place like Bangkok bars anywhere in Asia. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEM WHILE YOU CAN!!

Elephant Sanctuary

Most of the tourist sites that offer elephants rides are unfortunately abusive to the elephants, which breaks my heart. Please be cautious of the tourist traps that offers elephant rides. However, there are A LOT of amazing people in the world and luckily some have opened elephant sanctuaries where you can go visit and spend time with elephants that are being treated humanely. I heard the best one was in Chiang Mai at Elephant Nature Park.
